It is with sadness that we relate to friends and alumni the death of Josephine Olsen ("Jo" to most of us) on June 13, 2000. It was just this past December 12, 1999 that Jo, her family, and friends celebrated her 90th birthday. Jo and husband Bob (Robert C.) came to PLU in 1947 where he taught in the Chemistry Department until his retirement in 1976. Both were long time fixtures at PLU and the Department. Jo was known for welcoming people to campus and the Department. After Bob’s death in 1990 Jo continued to participate in the Department’s annual spring banquet, having attended them right up until the May 1999 Chemistry Banquet, less than a month before her passing. She had many friends at PLU and throughout the world and will be missed by all.
